Mason was a perfectly formed 9½ lb. baby boy. However, he was deprived of oxygen for 6½ hours during his birth resulting in a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy \u0026amp; Seizure Disorder. Originally the doctors said he wouldn’t live until the age of 2 and then revised that to the age of 15. Thankfully they were wrong! His cognitive level has always remained at 8 months old. Mason is considered to be “total care” as he is unable to walk or talk, has a feeding tube, catheter, etc. He has to be moved from his wheelchair to his bed using a Hoyer Lift.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMason’s Need\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eMany of you have known Mason since he was little and have followed his journey and know what a treasure he is to our family. As he has grown (now 6 ft.!) his needs have changed. The past two years he has been hospitalized more than a dozen times, mostly with pneumonia. He has outgrown his current bed and is in need of a lateral rotation hospital bed to help prevent pneumonia, bed sores and make moving his 6 ft. frame a little easier for diaper changes, sheet changes, etc. His mom currently is up every hour round the clock repositioning him to prevent bed sores.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eThis new bed is amazing! It can be programmed to gently move from side to side to keep fluid (lungs, etc.) moving in his body, shift his weight to prevent bed sores and keep him at the correct 30degree angle for his feeding tube. It is a huge change from the Cowboy bed we made to meet his needs when he was little!
